Cyber… What?
Data Breach. Social Engineering. Ransomware. Phishing.

We hear these words so much, but what do they really mean for your agency? Are you someone that thinks a data breach could never happen to you? Think again. Consider these statistics from the ACT Agency Cyber Guide 2.0:
  • In 2018, 67% of data breaches hit small businesses - up from 61% in 2017, and 53% in 2016.
  • Cyber attacks cost small businesses between $84,000 and $148,000, and can reach $690,000.
  • 60% of small businesses go out of business within six months of an attack.
Have you thought about how important cyber coverage is to not only your agency, but your personal financial health, as well? The IIA of IL, as always, is your number one resource. We know this topic is overwhelming, but very important.

Join instructors Brian McSherry and Bill Larson for a series of webinars over the next two months, plus a two-hour CE course at CONVO. Find out how you, both professionally and personally, are at risk. By attending these sessions, members will not only understand the current Mandated Data Privacy and Security Laws, but also receive assistance in developing a plan to become compliant with those laws.

Big ‘I’ Virtual University Reminds Agents About ISO’s PAP Changes
By Leslie Mularski
The Big “I" Virtual University (VU) would like to remind members to review ISO's personal auto policy changes. Effective Sept. 1, 2018, these changes - applicable in all states except Hawaii and North Carolina - have been adopted by most carriers and are critical for personal lines agents to understand.

To get up agents up to speed, the VU offers a variety of tools.

First, in May 2018, Chris Boggs, Big “I" Virtual University executive director, penned “A Brief Synopsis of ISO's Coming Changes to the PAP," which was recently updated. Second, the VU recorded a webinar detailing the nine changes that were made to the PAP form and the 21 endorsements that were either revised, removed or created. This webinar is available on-demand and accessible on any tablet or laptop with internet access.

Lastly, agents can purchase a Risk & Reality Report on the topic, which is a white paper based on the on-demand webinar. As a bonus, if you purchase the on-demand webinar, you will receive the Risk & Reality Report for free.
Risk & Reality Reports are white papers adapted from various VU workshops, webinars and articles. Check out a complete list of the VU's Risk & Reality Reports online.

If you still have questions about ISO's PAP changes after reviewing these resources, contact the Ask an Expert service. Our insurance coverage experts are on-hand to assist. Members frequently say the VU's Ask an Expert service is one of the best member benefits available.

NIPR Launches New Features to Popular Mobile App
The National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR) has launched new features to its popular mobile app. Powered by NIPR's Producer Database (PDB), the app allows insurance professionals to access their information on a mobile device, making compliance faster and more convenient.

The newly released License Renewal Reminder will push notifications of an upcoming license expiration. This will give producers plenty of time to complete their renewals and meet continuing education requirements.

Any professional licensed by a state insurance department can use the app to view their basic licensing information – which includes license numbers, expiration dates and lines of authority – in addition to the new features. Click here for details.
