CONVO, CONVO, CONVO we are live and in-person October 5-7 at the Crowne Plaza in Springfield. DO NOT MISS SEEING EVERYONE!!! Don’t be on the outside wishing you would have gone to see colleagues you haven’t seen in years, and sign up today as this may be the best CONVO ever.

Here is an exclusive CONVO Brett’s 2 Sense:

Throughout the years, I have attended the Association’s CONVO as a regulator, speaker, and the Association’s Education Director. I can tell you I was impressed as a regulator as we had to attend various local, state, and national events as part of our duties. CONVO, by far, was the most informative, well put together events of any that I attended. It provided the perfect balance of networking, educational opportunities, and information (tradeshow). This is one event that I looked forward to as a regulator as you got to go to one place and get the pulse, issues, industry trends, and problems facing the individuals that we regulated, which was a big plus for a regulator. I always believed that you had to know who you were regulating in order to truly protect the consumers of Illinois. CONVO allowed us to do this in a concise three-day program that didn’t cause us to be away from the duty of regulating for too long.

Many events that I attended as a regulator provided little to no value but, I can adamantly say that CONVO was unique, and I saw attending CONVO as invaluable.

As a speaker at CONVO, it gave me a glimpse into how the sausage was made, so to speak. I have spoken at many events, and CONVO by far was the most professional, focused, and enriching experience. I was able to do a joint session with an agent and discuss compliance issues with an agent who was in the trenches with real-world applications, which was invaluable to me as a regulator. The Association puts on the highest quality sessions with the best speakers along with high-quality content. The audience was engaging, which is difficult in our highly interesting industry 😊.

Lastly, as the Association’s Education Director, I have been able to see firsthand what goes into putting CONVO together and coordinating all the moving parts to produce the final product. All I can say is, “WOW.” It is flooring how many moving parts there are and how many little details are considered when planning CONVO. I now know why this is better than any other industry event . . .  the IIA of Illinois staff. Every single person gets on board to produce the top-quality event everyone has come accustomed to and takes pride in making it the best experience possible for our members. While last year was a great virtual experience, this year will be the CONVO of all CONVOs. You can get your yearly CE (12 credits) over the three days; network with all of your peers to exchange ideas, and see all of our company and vendor partners that we have so missed. The exchange of ideas will be more important than ever as we navigate this new COVID world. You can ensure that safety protocols will be in place to ensure that this will be a memorable experience due to the information and knowledge you will take away from CONVO-21. I will be there and look forward to seeing all of you. Do not miss this opportunity and sign-up today.

Again, this is just Brett’s 2 Sense.

Had I Been on THAT Jury - Rick Pitts

This three-hour continuing education class is interactive and fast paced. Participants sit as “jurors” and decide personal lines and commercial coverage and liability cases (all of which have been decided by appellate courts within the last few years). The participants deliberate and then compare their verdicts to the result in the real-world case on which the case is based. The actual outcome of the case and lessons to be gained from it are discussed.

Cyber Risk - 10 Questions Every Business Should Ask - Ronald Behrens

However, there is very little discussion with business owners on how they are managing their cyber exposures. Employment-Related Litigation and the Benefits of Employment Practice Liability Insurance - Lance Jones & Julieta Kosiba

Additionally, the presentation will address issues specific to employment-related litigation and EPLI and specifically discuss the need for EPLI and the benefits of such coverage.

Silent Cyber and the Impact on Equipment Breakdown - Paul Morris
The complexity of today’s computer systems and networks makes it difficult for organizations to protect themselves from a hacker’s attack. New threats are constantly being developed that could have so-called "silent cyber" implications because of potential cyber-related losses stemming from traditional property and liability policies that were not specifically designed to cover cyber risk. This presentation will help attendees determine if their organization is at risk of an attack with silent cyber implications, and how to mitigate that risk.

State of the Association Address and Carrier Executives Panel
IIA of IL leadership will discuss the trends and challenges facing the independent agency system. The Association will share what they are doing to stay ahead of the curve to provide a sustainable competitive advantage for member agencies.

During the Carrier Executives Panel Discussion, hear from company executives on how the insurance industry was affected by the pandemic and how their companies are responding. The executives will also discuss changes in the way agencies do business as a result of COVID-19 and the rapid transition to remote and hybrid work environments.

IIA of IL Chairman of the Board, George Daly, will moderate the discussion with the following carrier executives:

  • Dan Connell, Pekin Insurance
  • Rich Meuret, Liberty Mutual
  • Jim Schwalen, West Bend Mutual Insurance
  • Jamie Whisnant, Auto-Owners Insurance

And so many more excellent sessions!
The IIA of IL has implemented safety precautions to help keep attendees safe. We have also suspended the cancellation policy for attendees and will honor requests for refunds due to pandemic concerns. Click here for additional information.
