Session Highlights:
Drone Insurance: (must take)
This seminar begins with a significant background on aviation risks in general as part one of the seminar. The key points discussed in the first hour are designed to alert producers without experience or knowledge of aviation risks in general to six key points. The second hour focuses in on the basics of what a drone is, and then turns to a discussion of the possible legal liabilities. This includes a discussion of the FAA’s rules and regulations. The third hour focuses solely on the insurance implications. The three subsections of the third hour look at: (a) the underwriting challenges and questions producers need to be prepared to answer; (b) the current state of coverage for drones under ISO forms both personal and commercial; and (c) where the future may lie, discussing the forms options created by ISO in its 2014 filing.

Cyber Insurance: (must take)
Will have you learning how to understanding data breaches; NIST cybersecurity framework; Packaged vs Standalone Cyber; Cyber insurance coverages; first party loss, first party expenses, third party liability; and cyber insurance quote factors. Will take deeper dives into cyber myths; ransomware and it’s causes; cyber risk management; cyber mitigation (best practices); and the agent’s role in a cyber incident. To put a nice bow on top, the course will dive in to some case studies.


93rd Annual Farm Agents Mid-Winter Conference – New Location!
The Farm Agents Council will be hosting their annual Mid-Winter Meeting on February 2-3, at the Embassy Suites in East Peoria, IL. The FAC Mid-Winter Meeting is the premier event for those in Illinois farm, agri-business, and crop insurance to come together for networking, education, and an industry specific tradeshow.  Attendees will have the opportunity to earn up to six hours of IL continuing education (three hours each day, pending approval).

Thursday’s topic is High Impact Meteorology-Outlook for 2023 with Eric Snodgrass of Nutrien Ag Solutions. Attendees will also hear from IIA of IL’s Government Relations Director, Evan Manning, who will provide an update on what is happening in the legislative realm and what to expect in the upcoming session.

Friday morning will feature two of our own, Trent Munson and Luke Sandrock, as they walk us through E&O and Crop Insurance Considerations. The Friday morning E&O session will also meet the three-hour Ethics requirement for IL producers, as well as the requirements for IIA of IL’s E&O program.

This institute will help you maximize coverage and protect your increasingly complex commercial property accounts, it is important to have a detailed understanding of Commercial Property coverages and endorsements, as well as the concepts used when correctly writing this business. Equally important is a familiarity with other coverages such as Time Element (Business Income), and Equipment Breakdown. At this institute you will learn to help provide your customers with the advice and protection they need.

Participants will:
  • Examine the property coverage found in the Building and Personal Property Coverage Form including the various Additional Coverages, Coverage Extensions, and Optional Coverages. Discuss valuation methods and the application of coinsurance. Learn the proper use of various endorsements.
  • Examine the common coverage, exclusions, and limitations of the three Causes of Loss Forms (Basic, Broad, and Special) with emphasis on the Special Causes of Loss Form. You will also explore the need for the Legal Liability Coverage Form.
  • Learn the property exclusions that determine when an Equipment Breakdown Policy is needed. Determine the types of equipment to include, and the role of engineering as it relates to these policies.
  • Determine the what, how, and why of Business Income Coverage and Extra Expense coverage. Learn the importance of complying with the coinsurance provision and which Optional Coverages are used to remove or suspend this provision. Examine several valuable Business Income endorsements.
