IIABA InsurPAC Award

Illinois is the recipient of the 2020 IIABA InsurPAC Catalyst Award! This award is given to a state that shows great progress and participating in raising funds for InsurPAC. Illinois had dozens of first-time donors in 2020. We also broke our state record by increasing InsurPAC donations by over $6,000! Way to go, Illinois agents! The IIA of IL staff is proud to have members that understand the benefits of donating to PACs and protecting the independent agency system.

InsurPac

InsurPac is our Federal Political Action Committee of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (IIABA). InsurPac represents the unified voice of IIABA’s 23,000 member agencies and 300,000 agents and brokers nationwide. It is the largest property-casualty insurance industry political action committee in the nation. InsurPac plays a key role in the Big I’s legislative success.

This non-partisan political action committee raises funds for contributions to candidates for national office on behalf of independent agents, while increasing agent visibility on Capitol Hill and empowering members to participate in the political process. Contributions support Federal candidates only.

InsurPac raises and distributes approximately $2.3 million each election cycle, making it one of the largest small business PACs in the country. It is funded by voluntary, personal, LLC and Partnership contributions from independent agents, brokers and agencies throughout the country. It works hand in hand with the Big I advocacy team to promote, protect and perpetuate the independent agency system.

Each year, the Big I Legislative Conference is held in Washington D.C. The IIA of IL coordinates a group of members to represent Illinois each year. Attendees have the opportunity to visit their elected officials and provide valuable insights on issues that impact agents and insurance consumers. The conference also includes speakers from both political parties as well as a featured guest or panel presentation. This is an extremely worthwhile experience for members who want to engage with their national leaders. IIA of IL provides travel incentives, scheduling assistance, and opportunities for members to network with their peers and association leadership. By taking part in the conference, you will experience the benefits of our state and national association membership first hand.

Our IIABA team backed by InsurPac have worked on issues such as NARAB II multi-state licensing reform, extension of the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act, Federal Crop Insurance Reform, and most recently defeating bills that would have provided retroactive business interruption coverage, which would have made our industry insolvent in a matter of months.

There have never been greater threats to our livelihoods than in recent months. Your support of InsurPac has helped us develop and strengthen congressional relationships and is a key contributor to our legislative success. We must continue to develop and strengthen our relationships with Members of Congress. Now is the time to lean in; to double down. Please visit www.insurpac.com/form (no login required) to take action today! Or visit www.insurpac.com with your Big “I” login information to see your donor history and take action.

InsurPac can accept personal checks only. Corporate contributions are not permitted. To contribute: Federal law requires that InsurPac receive a signed corporate approval form from all corporate agencies before soliciting contributions. Once a form has been signed and filed with the IIABA, contributions from individuals may be solicited and accepted by InsurPac. The InsurPac collection cycle runs on a calendar year.
