If you have reached this page in regards to a banking concern, there has been some confusion. Banks are abbreviating the phrase “Check into Cash” as “CIC” on your statement. This is not a charge related to any IIA of IL class. Please call your bank with questions or concerns related to this transaction.

CERTIFIED INSURANCE COUNSELOR - CIC

The CIC Program has been the insurance industry's premier, proven source for practical, real-world education since 1969. The CIC designation signifies a high level of professional education and a commitment to a course of continuing education.

Designed to cover important aspects of the insurance field, each institute is 16 hours of instruction, followed by an optional examination. The CIC designation is earned by attending all five, three-day institutes, and passing the exam at the end of each institute (all within five calendar years after passing the first exam). The designation is awarded by the Society of Insurance Counselors during the annual conferment ceremonies held in November each year.

If you already hold the CIC designation, or if you are taking the class to solely fulfill CE requirements, it is not necessary to take the test.

To retain your CIC designation you are required to attend one CIC class per year. Choose from one the six basic courses (offered in various locations throughout the year) or the advanced James K. Ruble Graduate Seminar,  which is offered twice a year.
